Brilliant Road and the Red Balloon by Sarah Jeanne Browne
My drawings for fun (not an illustrator!)
Maresca Pearl Lawson loved stargazing in her backyard with her new telescope. She didn't expect to see a lovely red balloon in the shape of a heart floating over her house. She ran to catch it. The red balloon could talk! It said, "Every road has its reason, to rise above to Unseen Brilliance." It lifted her to a brilliant road made of starlight. This was no ordinary road. It was the spiritual road of authenticity where she made a pinky promise with the red balloon who would reveal its identity soon to always be authentic. The red balloon sang, “Where do our good actions go? They blow with the wind and land on the brilliant road.” She journeyed with the red balloon on the brilliant road to leave footprints behind that others could follow, if they dared to touch the skies.
I got this really neat figurine of a little girl holding a heart shaped red balloon from UnOrdinary Decor. My children's book Brilliant Road and the Red Balloon is about a little girl named Maresca who has a friend in a heart shaped red balloon. It was too uncanny to pass up. Thank you, Sandi Kirby!
